The Christmas Light Show Returns on East Main Street

The Christmas Light Show begins tonight at an East Main Street home near the Ayer Rotary. As in past years, the home is decorated in a beautiful light display that flashes a spread of colors to a musical lineup. One minute you’re in everyday Ayer and the next, it’s just, “Wow.”

The light display shows every 30 minutes daily, between 5 and 10:30 p.m. It is expected to run between now and Dec. 25th.

From your car, you can tune into 87.9 FM to hear the show.

If you are walking by, the owner has installed a convenient button near the sidewalk. You can press this to hear a softer version of the music (the button is only operational between 5 and 10:30 p.m.).

The owner told us he has a background in AV and productions and has set up his light show each year since 2017 (except for one year). Planning started a few years earlier, before he had even moved into the home.

Enjoy the Holiday Music
What’s really special is the owner has always taken care to set up the FM station and brought music to the display, starting that first year. It was once a treat to just tune into the FM station from your vehicle. But then, about four years ago, he added the button near the sidewalk so his neighbors could also enjoy a full display without having to drive by. It says, “Press for Magic.”

“Every year we get bigger and bigger,” he said. This year, he added 7,000 new lights to the front windows.

Most of us enjoy the holiday display for the month of December. For him, it’s a six-month project. By September, all the parts have been delivered. He said it takes him about a day to set up the lights and another day to make sure it is up and running.

We thank him for spending a few minutes with us!
