Residents of All Ages Came Out for Ayer’s 10th Annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Stroll

The Town of Ayer hosted its 10th annual holiday tree lighting and stroll yesterday. From young children to Santa, all ages came out for the special tradition.

Residents collected their candles and the stroll began around 5 p.m. Together, all the candles created a beautiful white glow as the group walked down Main Street, then stopped at Town Hall.

The Assistant Town Manager welcomed the crowd at Town Hall, then introduced the Select Board chair to lead the countdown.

Calling this event the official start of the holiday season, the Select Board chair said, “I hope that tonight, everyone will just take a moment and remember your favorite holiday moment,” then hold onto that.

The countdown began and the tree was lit. Shortly after, residents began moving toward Town Hall, where it was warmer. There, you had two choices: get in line to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus or head upstairs to The Great Hall. The Nashoba Valley Concert Band began playing holiday songs.
